This incident took place on Monday,
Yesterday July 10th, at the house of Zahirul Islam Siraj, Bandar Upazila representative of The New Nation.

According to news sources, Local land bandit Shah-Jamal entered journalist Siraj’s home in Baninathpur of Sonargaon upazila with the intention of attack along with a group of 20 to 25 members.

The victim journalist filed a complaint in Sonargaon police station. According to the complaint, Shahjamal Son of Ahmed Ali is residence of 9 number ward of Sonargaon Municipality.

As a journalist, Zahirul Islam Siraj was aware of various information of Shahjamal misdeeds, who the mastermind of this attack. For this reason, he became enraged for a long time prior and aggressively attacked the house of journalist Zahirul Islam.

When journalist Zahirul was not found at home during the attack, his family was been threatened to kill with him.

In this regard, journalist Zahirul Islam Siraj said that many families have been become destitute due to Shah Jamal’s deception. He added, Shah Jamal occupied government land in Baninathpur village behind Sonargaon Upazila Hospital and started construction boundary wall illegally and I protested this illegal work.

Because of this, he got angry on me and attacked me aggressively. Currently I am insecure.

In Sonargaon upazila , Journalists protested against this incident and demanded exemplary punishment against those involved.

Sonargaon police station OC Mahabub Alam said that a complaint has been taken in this incident and Legal action will be taken after investigation.
