Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Government of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina today announced the official inauguration of the Multipurpose Padma Bridge from the Mawa side at 11:57 am on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
The inauguration of the Padma Bridge today is the result of the relentless work of eight and a half years of uninterrupted domestic and foreign workers from December 7, 2014 to June 25, 2022 and the determination, efforts and strong morale of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister appeared at the venue in a helicopter from the Prime Minister’s Office on the stage at Mawa side at 10 am. Stamps, seals and commemorative notes of one hundred Tk were issued on the occasion of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge.
Addressing the Meeting, the Prime Minister said, “This bridge is a symbol of our pride, our ability and our dignity. This bridge belongs to the people of Bangladesh.
From starting on December 7, 2014 and by June 25, 2022, the most complex architectural construction work has been completed and the multi-purpose Padma Bridge has been inaugurated today.
Shafiqul Islam, project director of the bridge, said the construction work had not been stopped for a sigel day since the bridge was being started.
The bridge is 6.15 km long and 21.75 m wide with 42 pillars and 41 spans.
