An old woman was allegedly kicked to death by a kidnapper in Araihazar. The incident took place at 10:30 pm on Wednesday (December 11) in Sandi village of Haijadi union of the Araihazar upazila.

Sharmin Akhter, daughter of the deceased Shahida Begum, said Aman (30), son of Sayed Ali of Dasirdia village of neighboring Hukretpura union, introduced by Facebook with Meem (16), daughter of Rawshan Ara of Sandi village of Haijadi union.

But later, when Meem stopped communicating with Aman, Aman came to Meem’s house and started harassing her. During the incident, Delwar of Meem’s village and a few others came with him and tried to forcefully take Meem from her house.

When they resisted, the kidnappers got angry and attacked on them.

As a result, Meem’s grandmother Shahida Begum died on the spot due to Aman’s kick.

When the family members came forward to save Shahida Begum, the attackers hit the deceased’s daughter, Meem’s mother, Rawshan Ara, on the head with a sword, causing bloody injuries, and Meem’s grandfather, Fazlul Karim, and beat him up. Miem’s ​​mother, Rawshan Ara, and grandfather, Fazlul Karim, were taken to the Araihazar Upazila Health Complex in critical condition for treatment.

Upon receiving the news, Araihazar Police recovered the body on Thursday morning and sent it to the Narayanganj Morgue for autopsy.

In this regard, Araihazar Police Enayet Hossain (OC) said that even though the attack took place, it cannot be said for sure whether Shahida Begum died due to injuries or not until the autopsy report comes.
