Titas 2,500 illegal gas connections disconnected in Rupganj

Titas Gas authorities have conducted a drive to disconnect illegal gas connections in Tarabo, Rupganj.

On Thursday (December 5), the district administration’s executive magistrate Md. Rahat Uz Zaman led the drive from noon to afternoon at four spots in the Barab, Mograkul Chairman Para and Golakandail areas of Tarabo Municipality.

During this time, Titas authorities disconnected 2,500 illegal gas connections in an area spread over four kilometers, including a bakery factory.

In addition, the executive magistrate sentenced the man who took the factory to one month in prison for failing to pay a fine of one lakh taka to the factory for illegally taking gas connections.

At the beginning of the drive, the illegal gas connection of a factory named Al Medina Bakery in the Barab area was disconnected. In addition, the executive magistrate imposed a fine of one lakh taka on the company.

However, the factory manager named Sabuj was sentenced to one month in prison for failing to pay the fine.

Later, 1,000 illegal connections of 500 houses in the Mograkul Chairman Para area were disconnected. Later, 1,500 illegal connections of 1,000 houses were disconnected in the Golakandail area.

Later, Titas authorities permanently sealed the main distribution connection points of Titas to prevent the re-establishment of the disconnected connections. A large number of illegal pipes and risers were seized.

Titas’ Sonargaon Regional Marketing Department Deputy General Manager Engineer Mohammad Shahabuddin and Managing Engineer Syed Anwarul Azim, along with other officers and engineers, were present in this operation conducted with the help of law enforcement agencies.

After the operation, Titas’ Sonargaon Regional Marketing Department Deputy General Manager Engineer Mohammad Shahabuddin told the media that gas connections were taken illegally in different areas of Rupganj under the umbrella of local influential people and brokers.

Previously, we have conducted operations in phases and disconnected a large number of illegal connections. Today, we have disconnected 2,500 residential illegal stoves including a bakery factory. Our operation to stop illegal connections will continue. In addition, we are identifying those involved in illegal connections and taking legal action against them.
