The main accused Shahin (30), father-Sirajul Islam, Village : Mangalkhali, Thana : Rupganj, Narayanganj was arrested Within 36 hours of the announcement of the death sentence in the sensational “Shishu Jayant murder” case of Rupganj.
A smart intelligence team of RAB-11 On March 7, 2024, conducted a special operation in Rupganj area of Narayanganj district and arrested Shahin.
According to the source of the case, it was known that the accused kidnapped Jayanta on June 5, 2018 and demanded Tk 5 lakh ransom. The victim child Jayanta Chandra Das (10) is the son of Chaitanya Chandra Das of Baniyadi area of Rupganj Upazila. He was a third grade (Calss Three) student at the local Shishu Mela Kindergarten School.
On June 6, 2018, schoolboy Jayanta Chandra Das was strangled to death by the kidnappers without getting 5 lakhs as ransom. Later, Jayanta dead body was recovered from an abandoned house in Baniyadi area of the upazila with his hands, feet and face tied.
Then, the victim’s father Chaitanya Chandra Das filed a murder case in Rupganj police station as the plaintiff.
On March 5, 2024 at noon, learned Additional District and Sessions Judge First Court Judge Umm Saraban Tahura announced verdict four people to death in the case filed in this incident. At the same time, each has been fined one lakh Take. One defendant named Anik was present in the court when the verdict was announced.
The arrested accused Shahin and the other two accused were absconding. Those who received death sentence are Shahin (30) son of Sirajul Islam of Mangalkali area of Rupganj, Alamgir (27) son of Jahangir of Balainagar area, Anik Chandra Das (27) son of Rajkumar of Baniyadi area and Ashiq Chandra Das (30) son of Santosh Chandra Das of the same area.
