Bus fare hike withdrawn face criticism

Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah DC ( Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner) has withdrawn the decision to increase the bus fare by Tk 5 on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route In the face of intense criticism and opposition and announced that it will keep the previous fare at Tk 50. This information was announced through a notification on the Deputy Commissioner’s official Facebook page on Friday (August 22) morning.

The notification expressed , “Due to unavoidable reasons, the decision taken on August 20 regarding the increased fares of Bandhan and Utsav Paribahan has been postponed. Therefore, the fares of Bandhan and Utsav Paribahan on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route will remain as before.”

 

 

Earlier, on Wednesday afternoon, DC Zahidul Islam announced the increase the bus fares despite of opposition from political and civic leaders at a meeting of the Narayanganj District Passenger and Goods Transport Committee held the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
