Journalist leader caught by robbers in Cumilla

Lion HM Ibrahim Bhuiyan, Chairman of Federation of Bangladesh Journalists Organization (FBJO) and his colleges lost everything after falling into the hands of robbers. The incident took place at 10:20 pm on May 29 at Tirchar are in Elliotganj on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.

 

According to the details of the incident, FBJO Chairman HM Ibrahim Bhuiyan along with his traveling companion FBJO Finance Secretary Md. Abdul Baten Sarkar, camera person Md. Shahadat Hossain and journalist Salman May 29 left Dhaka for Comilla in the morning.

 

When the vehicle carrying them reached Silchar area of Chandina police station on the way back, the wheel on the right side of the back of their vehicle burst. At the same time, Ibrahim Bhuiyan first called the Daudkandi Highway Police on his mobile phone for security assistance. They said the area is under Elliotganj Highway Police Station. So again, when HM Ibrahim Bhuiyan called the Elliottganj Highway Police Station. The on-duty police officer of Elliottganj Highway Police Station advised them to bring their vehicle to a safe place with the help of another vehicle.

 

He then repeatedly called the Highway Patrol Team, Highway Police Super Comilla Range, Control Room, Additional IG Traffic for security assistance. But Ibrahim Bhuiyan complained that even in 40/45 minutes no highway police came forward with their cooperation.

 

At around 10.20 am, a group of 7/8 robbers attacked them with local weapons and snatched their four Android mobile phones, an HD camera and a DSLR camera and all their money bags and fled.

 

The victims alleged that the robbery did not take place as the highway police were rushing to the spot. Lion HM Ibrahim Bhuiyan has lodged a complaint with Chandina police station.
