Kolkata celebrated World Bicycle Day

World Bicycle Day was celebrated on Friday morning with the initiative of Nehru Youth Center South Kolkata Association.

 

To illustrate the benefits and importance of cycling in physical exercise , the United Nations has been designated April 3, 2018 as World Bicycle Day.

This year this day is celebrated in different area in India. Kalighat is one of the 75 famous places in the country. So Nehru Yuva Kendra South Kolkata celebrated this day by cycling at Kalighat in Kolkata.

 

The event was inaugurated by waving the national flag in the presence of ACP Ujjwal Roy, footballer Kuntala Ghosh Dastidar and with other dignitaries.

 

Everyone spoke of raising awareness about the benefits of cycling. In this journey Cyclist Madhavi Sarkar joined and matched the speed of his bicycle with everyone.

 

Antra Chakraborty, an official of NYJKS South Kolkata, said cycling is a key element of physical activity. She also said that We could not have imagined such a response would be received from all. She further attributed thanks to all the cyclists.

 

The whole affair were collaborated by NSS, NCC, Sarobar Athletic Center, Hindu Sangha and Dreams Wheels.

 

The closing ceremony was announced with the slogan “Every day should be a day of cycling”
